Is CritViz anonymous, and how does privacy work?
Depending on instructor preferences, CritViz can employ a varying degree of anonymity for students, but in general assumes that it's beneficial for students to be openly identified as the authors of their own work and as critics. It is possible to create entirely private assignments in CritViz, where only the instructor can see the results. We do employ "temporary anonymity" in the critique process, so that the students giving feedback are unable to see the identity of the authors of those works, until the critique deadline at which point those identities become visible. The intent of this "blinding" is to help students remain focused on the qualities of the works they have been assigned to critique and to minimize influence of friendship bias, gender, or reputation.
